There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bears took Da'Shawn Womack a full 131 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Allen at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
