Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesD+
FutureA-
The Ravens cashed the board's mistake on Slaughter: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Jake Slaughter had no business being available in slot 80, and the Ravens did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Prysock pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In slot 26 they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick45
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at No. 45 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick80
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
Circle this one: Jake Slaughter at the 80th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 115, where Michael Trigg graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalon Kilgore at Round 4, Pick 26. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
Fair-plus on Jude Bowry, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick162
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A slide stopped in pick 162, with Demond Claiborne worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173
Rnd5
Ephesians Prysock
The board had cheaper options than Ephesians Prysock at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Eric McAlister in No. 211, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick250
Rnd7
Charles Demmings
The board had Charles Demmings higher than the 250th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick253
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
They jumped the gun on Robert Spears-Jennings, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
