The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Johnson: B-.

The real work happened on the phones. The 49ers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Johnson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They will need Mandell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The veteran additions, Harold Fannin Jr. chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
