Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bears won the night they stopped Slaughter from sliding. Grade: B.

The board owed the Bears one, and it paid up: Jake Slaughter, the No. 54 name on the board, sitting there at No. 89 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Circle this one: Arvell Reese at Round 1, Pick 25 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick57 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 57, where Caleb Banks graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick60 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
The board had Emmanuel McNeil-Warren higher than pick 60, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Slaughter in the 89th overall pick, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick129 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore slipping to slot 129 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick239 Rnd7 Robert Henry Jr.
Robert Henry Jr. at No. 239 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick241 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at the 241st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
