Draft Grade — Bears

The Bears lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
They will need Jones to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In pick 9 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick64
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
They paid sticker price for Michael Taaffe in the 64th pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick81
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at pick No. 81 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan in the 96th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick119
Rnd4
Logan Jones
They reached into another round for Logan Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick159
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at Round 5, Pick 18 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
