Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Steelers. There is reaching, and then there is Noah Daniels at slot 229. The Steelers jumped the board by 166 and dared it to prove them wrong.
Getting Howard where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In the 21st pick they get a load in the middle, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick83
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kaleb Johnson in Round 3, Pick 19, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jack Sawyer
Circle this one: Jack Sawyer at the 123rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jeffrey Bassa
Taking Jeffrey Bassa in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick185
Rnd6
Will Howard
Steal is underselling it; Will Howard at slot 185 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick229
Rnd7
Noah Daniels
Noah Daniels at pick No. 229 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
