The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Drew Allar, the No. 158 name on the board, sitting there at slot 196 like a gift left on the doorstep. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will need Roberts to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In the end it comes back to Arvell Reese, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
