Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Allar from sliding. Grade: B+.

The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Drew Allar, the No. 104 name on the board, in the Round 4 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. It is not that Ramsey is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the 22nd overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Matayo Uiagalelei
In pick No. 24 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. More want than need.
Pick48 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at No. 48 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick51 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick84 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
A want over a need in the 84th pick: Kamari Ramsey adds a safety while interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
Pick114 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at pick 114 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd4 Drew Allar
Drew Allar in Round 4, Pick 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick152 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Good price on Kage Casey in slot 152, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick182 Rnd5 Makhi Hughes
A reach for Makhi Hughes in No. 182; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick220 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Shamar Easter. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick231 Rnd7 Malik Hartford
The board had Malik Hartford higher than the Round 7 slot, and the safety fell to them anyway. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
