RH DRAFTING FOR THEChargers
Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chargers: B-. The Chargers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 123rd pick on Mikail Kamara a full 22 spots early. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Taaffe value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In the 22nd pick they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick55
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
A slide stopped in the 55th overall pick, with Caleb Banks worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Michael Taaffe at pick 86. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick123
Rnd4
Mikail Kamara
Mikail Kamara at slot 123 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
