The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The war room fell hard for Quintayvious Hutchins, and it showed at No. 133: 61 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Kilgore falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Omar Cooper Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Omar Cooper Jr. in slot 58. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Markel Bell
They went early on Markel Bell in No. 92, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in pick 127 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick133
Rnd4
Quintayvious Hutchins
Quintayvious Hutchins in pick No. 133 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138
Rnd4
Billy Schrauth
Billy Schrauth in the 138th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman in the 171st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
