Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The Steelers found their guy under center in Sellers: B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Jaleel Skinner; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 164 spots ahead at Round 6, Pick 35. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They have staked the next five years on LaNorris Sellers, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Stewart where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
LaNorris Sellers
In pick No. 14 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick46
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
They let Dillon Thieneman come to them and pounced at the 46th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the 73rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick78
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darrell Jackson Jr. in pick 78. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick98
Rnd3
Domani Jackson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Domani Jackson. The roster fit checks out.
Pick114
Rnd4
Kalil Alexander
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kalil Alexander in the Round 4 slot, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick133
Rnd4
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in No. 133 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick153
Rnd5
Taylen Green
Taylen Green in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176
Rnd5
Princewill Umanmielen
Princewill Umanmielen in Round 5, Pick 38 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick192
Rnd6
Shamar Easter
Shamar Easter slid further than he should have, and slot 192 is lovely value for the tight end. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jaleel Skinner
Jaleel Skinner at the 211th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick227
Rnd7
Shamar Porter
No edge and no loss on Shamar Porter in pick No. 227; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
