The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Jackson Jr.: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Darrell Jackson Jr. had no business being available in No. 172, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Every board in the league had Cooper Jr. lower, and that gap is the story. The 49ers indulged a want in Lee III while a need in running back, quarterback and other spots stayed open. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
They will replay Mansoor Delane at Round 1, Pick 28 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick59 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
Value said wait; Omar Cooper Jr. in No. 59 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92 Rnd3 Will Lee III
A curious use of pick No. 92. Running back, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Will Lee III did not.
Pick127 Rnd4 Blake Miller
No drama and no debate, Blake Miller went about where he belonged in the 127th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick133 Rnd4 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139 Rnd4 Adon Shuler
Adon Shuler in the 139th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick172 Rnd5 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Darrell Jackson Jr. at pick 172 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
