The Patriots looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took George Gumbs Jr. at the Round 6 slot regardless, 60 picks early. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Virgil value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
