Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
Scott should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Keionte Scott slide 23 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
With running back and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. They are betting Heidenreich proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In the 21st pick they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick53
Rnd2
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jake Golday
Jake Golday in No. 76 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick85
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Keionte Scott in slot 85, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 99th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick121
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with J.C. Davis while clear needs at running back and tight end sat open.
Pick135
Rnd4
Drew Allar
They paid up for Drew Allar at pick No. 135 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick161
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst at pick 161 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick214
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Nwokobia in pick No. 214, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick216
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
They took Zxavian Harris at par in the 216th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick224
Rnd7
Eli Heidenreich
A conviction pick on Eli Heidenreich at pick 224 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick237
Rnd7
Aiden Fisher
A tidy little value on Aiden Fisher in slot 237, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
