They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Jets' quarterback, full stop.

They will need Stephens to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Getting McAlister where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, safety and other spots went begging.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
