Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB+
Larceny in the 85th pick lands the Steelers a B+, Golday and all.

Somebody in the Round 3 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Steelers sat still while Jake Golday, the No. 58 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Capehart proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick46 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick53 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
No drama and no debate, Omar Cooper Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 53. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
Good price on Chase Bisontis in the 76th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick85 Rnd3 Jake Golday
They robbed the room for Jake Golday here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick86 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Nice patience on Michael Taaffe, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 22. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at No. 116 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick121 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Michael Trigg at pick 121. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick135 Rnd4 Drew Allar
They jumped the gun on Drew Allar, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick214 Rnd6 Thaddeus Dixon
No edge and no loss on Thaddeus Dixon in Round 6, Pick 33; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick224 Rnd7 Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in slot 224 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell slipping to No. 237 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
