The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Taliese Fuaga, the No. 25 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 53 like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. They will need Limmer to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emeka Egbuka. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Taliese Fuaga at Round 2, Pick 21 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Matt Goncalves at pick 121 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Beaux Limmer at the 124th overall pick, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Darius Robinson in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Donovan Edwards in slot 161. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Jalen Catalon higher than the 240th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They did well to land Storm Duck in pick No. 242, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
