Caldwell should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jeff Caldwell, the No. 220 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If Hecht pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
By-the-book stuff, Emmanuel Pregnon at pick No. 38 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick62 Rnd2 Domonique Orange
A premium they did not need to pay, Domonique Orange a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
A real head-scratcher, Sam Hecht in No. 69 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick106 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at pick 106 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick108 Rnd4 Taurean York
They paid sticker price for Taurean York in the 108th overall pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick141 Rnd5 Louis Moore
Louis Moore at the 141st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick167 Rnd5 Taylen Green
A big swing on Taylen Green at slot 167, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick243 Rnd7 Andre Fuller
They let Andre Fuller come to them and pounced at the 243rd pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 244th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
