k DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B
ValueB-

TradesB-
FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Scott from sliding. Grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Keionte Scott got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at the 92nd pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Bisontis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In pick No. 27 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58
Rnd2
Chase Bisontis
A premium they did not need to pay, Chase Bisontis a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
You do not let a cornerback like Keionte Scott reach the 92nd pick and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick127
Rnd4
Bud Clark
Bud Clark in pick 127 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick133
Rnd4
Eli Raridon
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Eli Raridon in Round 4, Pick 33. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick138
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
They let Chris McClellan come to them and pounced at the Round 4 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
A tidy bit of business in the 171st overall pick, where Chase Roberts graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
