Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
Brown should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B.

Call it larceny. Barion Brown sat on the board until pick No. 229, and the Bears did not need to be asked twice.

The Clark pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher and quarterback. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting White proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Zane Durant
Zane Durant in the 48th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
They robbed the room for Dillon Thieneman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick80 Rnd3 Bud Clark
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Bud Clark at safety with edge rusher and quarterback open.
Pick90 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
No edge and no loss on Harold Perkins Jr. in Round 3, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick126 Rnd4 Samuel Omosigho
No drama and no debate, Samuel Omosigho went about where he belonged in pick No. 126. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick142 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Aaron Anderson in slot 142. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jahiem White
They paid up for Jahiem White at No. 155 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick194 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
A quiet steal in pick No. 194: Trey Zuhn III for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick229 Rnd7 Barion Brown
Barion Brown in Round 7, Pick 13 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248 Rnd7 Tony Grimes
Tony Grimes at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
