Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureA+
A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a B+ weekend for the Browns.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

The Harvey value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 6th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
They paid sticker price for Emmanuel Pregnon in pick 39, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
They let Keionte Scott come to them and pounced at slot 70. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick107 Rnd4 Deion Burks
Deion Burks at the 107th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey in Round 5, Pick 1 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick144 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DeMonte Capehart. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
No drama and no debate, Kyle Louis went about where he belonged in No. 146. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick147 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens in pick No. 147 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick204 Rnd6 Oscar Delp
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Oscar Delp at pick No. 204. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick248 Rnd7 DJ Harvey
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 248 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
