Ravenous DRAFTING FOR THERavens

Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

NeedB-
TradesF
FutureB-
The Ravens lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. There is reaching, and then there is Eric Gentry at pick 218. The Ravens jumped the board by 138 and dared it to prove them wrong. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Rodriguez pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with cornerback still on the board.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In pick No. 14 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, though they paid up to get him.
Pick33
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
By-the-book stuff, Dillon Thieneman at the 33rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick45
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Fair-plus on Emmanuel Pregnon, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick80
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jacob Rodriguez at linebacker with cornerback open.
Pick103
Rnd4
Logan Jones
A tidy bit of business in slot 103, where Logan Jones graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
No edge and no loss on Mike Washington Jr. in the 115th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick140
Rnd4
Beau Stephens
A straight-up fair deal on Beau Stephens at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick154
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
No drama and no debate, Tanner Koziol went about where he belonged in No. 154. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick162
Rnd5
Kaleb Proctor
They took Kaleb Proctor at par in slot 162, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173
Rnd5
Dallen Bentley
Dallen Bentley at Round 5, Pick 33 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kaden Wetjen
A wild overpay on Kaden Wetjen in the 174th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick179
Rnd5
Zxavian Harris
A big swing on Zxavian Harris at the 179th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick194
Rnd6
Taylen Green
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Taylen Green in pick 194. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick208
Rnd6
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton in pick No. 208 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick211
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in the 211th pick, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick218
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
They talked themselves into Eric Gentry at pick No. 218, and the board did not agree. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick242
Rnd7
Bryce Foster
They paid up for Bryce Foster at the Round 7 slot when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250
Rnd7
John Michael Gyllenborg
John Michael Gyllenborg in Round 7, Pick 34 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick253
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
They paid sticker price for De'Zhaun Stribling in No. 253, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
