You could see the war room lean forward. Jonah Monheim at pick 234 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Stover to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in the 49th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for TreVeyon Henderson in No. 90, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyleik Williams in Round 3, Pick 30 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach on Donovan Jackson in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cade Stover in pick 128 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good price on Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 154, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Jonah Monheim here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy bit of business in No. 238, where Chau Smith-Wade graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
