The trade table was a mismatch, and the 49ers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive. They are betting Smith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
