Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA
The Raiders turned the phones into found money: B+.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Raiders started one anyway for Bear Alexander, 32 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick No. 10 they get a rangy last line of defense at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jayden Maiava
Jayden Maiava at slot 37 is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick59 Rnd2 Daylen Everette
A clean, defensible pick in the 59th pick with a little surplus value in Daylen Everette. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
They took Deontae Lawson at par in Round 3, Pick 4, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick106 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Harold Perkins Jr. at linebacker with edge rusher, running back and other spots open.
Pick114 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zachariah Branch. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry at slot 135 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Zane Durant
Zane Durant at the 173rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick182 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
They did well to land Xavier Nwankpa in the 182nd pick, just ahead of his grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick220 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
They reached a country mile for Bear Alexander at pick No. 220, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
