The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Whit Weeks, the No. 97 name on the board, sitting there at Round 4, Pick 36 like a gift left on the doorstep. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

Brailsford has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
