The phones sank the 49ers this weekend: D+.

Nobody else had Gracen Halton anywhere near the Round 4 slot. The 49ers did, by 41 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The 49ers indulged a want in Smith while a need in quarterback stayed open.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Miller at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
