Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Edwards: A-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Donovan Edwards slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at No. 181. Highway robbery. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

The Coleman pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In the 9th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
They did well to land J.J. McCarthy in Round 2, Pick 16, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Amarius Mims
By-the-book stuff, Amarius Mims at pick No. 82 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick108 Rnd4 Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at pick 108 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick181 Rnd6 Donovan Edwards
Somehow Donovan Edwards was still sitting there in the 181st pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185 Rnd6 Steve Linton
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Steve Linton graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick224 Rnd7 Tre Harris
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at No. 224 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
