Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB
The Cardinals let Klein fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cardinals watched Marlin Klein slide 22 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Francis Mauigoa
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick82 Rnd3 Dontay Corleone
Dontay Corleone in the 82nd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104 Rnd4 Austin Barber
Good price on Austin Barber in pick 104, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143 Rnd5 Hezekiah Masses
Hezekiah Masses slipping to No. 143 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick183 Rnd6 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in Round 6, Pick 2 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick196 Rnd6 Marlin Klein
Taking Marlin Klein in slot 196 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jeremiah Wright
Jeremiah Wright at the 217th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
