FutureB-
The Panthers let Slaughter fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Slaughter tumbling to the Panthers in pick 83 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In slot 19 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53
Rnd2
Gennings Dunker
Gennings Dunker at the 53rd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick83
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Michael Trigg at pick No. 119. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
Good price on Bishop Fitzgerald in the 121st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
No edge and no loss on CJ Daniels in Round 4, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick158
Rnd5
Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis at No. 158 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick159
Rnd5
Albert Regis
Albert Regis in pick 159 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick200
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
A straight-up fair deal on Le'Veon Moss at No. 200, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
