The Patriots worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Patriots took George Gumbs Jr. a full 60 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. However the rest shakes out, Thomas at that price is a win they earned. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The veteran additions, Laremy Tunsil chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
