Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The Patriots won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Patriots were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The McGlothern pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In pick 6 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick18 Rnd1 JC Latham
In slot 18 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick40 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy at No. 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick70 Rnd3 Brian Thomas Jr.
They took Brian Thomas Jr. at par in the 70th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at Round 4, Pick 3 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Good price on Raheim Sanders in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in the 245th overall pick, a genuine coup. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
