Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureA+
The Patriots checked most of the boxes and earned a B. Some picks age like wine; Kamal Hadden at slot 149 will need to, sitting 87 spots clear of his grade. No fireworks, but a solid B.
However the rest shakes out, Fisher at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In No. 22 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at Round 2, Pick 2 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick57
Rnd2
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at the 57th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean at the 66th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick86
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in slot 86 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick110
Rnd4
Devontez Walker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Devontez Walker in pick No. 110. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139
Rnd5
Blake Fisher
Steal is underselling it; Blake Fisher at slot 139 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick149
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at the 149th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick254
Rnd7
Bryson Nesbit
Bryson Nesbit in Round 7, Pick 34 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
