Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueD+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB
A solid, sensible weekend for the Raiders: B-.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Raiders took Akheem Mesidor at the 104th pick, roughly 198 spots before his name belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on linebacker with quarterback, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In slot 21 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
No edge and no loss on Anthony Hill Jr. in the 38th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick39 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 39 on Arvell Reese with quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick74 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Fair-plus on Michael Taaffe, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick104 Rnd4 Akheem Mesidor
Akheem Mesidor at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick109 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
Value said wait; Davison Igbinosun in No. 109 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134 Rnd4 Barion Brown
They talked themselves into Barion Brown at pick No. 134, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175 Rnd5 Trey Zuhn III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Zuhn III well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick187 Rnd6 Micah Morris
Micah Morris at slot 187 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227 Rnd7 Kaleb Jackson
Kaleb Jackson in the 227th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
