Ganell DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Lew. Final grade: B-. The Steelers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Connor Lew fell into slot 99. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Jatta has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down second-level presence. A real need, handled.
Pick53
Rnd2
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They paid sticker price for Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in slot 53, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
A reasonable price with a little left over, Malachi Fields in Round 3, Pick 12. The roster fit checks out.
Pick85
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange in pick 85 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Circle this one: Connor Lew at the 99th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick121
Rnd4
Will Lee III
Will Lee III in No. 121 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick135
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
A quiet steal in the 135th overall pick: Davison Igbinosun for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161
Rnd5
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams in pick No. 161 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick214
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
No edge and no loss on Zxavian Harris in the 214th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick216
Rnd6
Miller Moss
A reach on Miller Moss in slot 216; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick224
Rnd7
Isaiah Jatta
They talked themselves into Isaiah Jatta at the 224th overall pick, and the board did not agree. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Nick Barrett
Nick Barrett at No. 237 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
