The 49ers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C-. Somebody took the 49ers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C-.
They will need Dennis-Sutton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Lee III pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the 27th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
No drama and no debate, Dillon Thieneman went about where he belonged in No. 36. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick55
Rnd2
Dani Dennis-Sutton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dani Dennis-Sutton. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94
Rnd3
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick108
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
They paid a round early for Bryce Lance in slot 108, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 27, where Mike Washington Jr. graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick133
Rnd4
Will Lee III
Value with a capital V on Will Lee III in pick 133, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick169
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner in pick No. 169 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177
Rnd5
Ephesians Prysock
They paid up for Ephesians Prysock at pick 177 when waiting would have done the job. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick221
Rnd7
Cole Payton
A conviction pick on Cole Payton at the 221st overall pick that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
