FutureA
Nobody dealt better than the Raiders this weekend: A-. The Raiders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
The Fidone II pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, with Armand Membou leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In pick No. 14 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They did well to land Omarion Hampton in No. 37, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in the 68th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick80
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Value with a capital V on Carson Schwesinger in Round 3, Pick 16, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick108
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Nice patience on Tai Felton, who had no business lasting to slot 108. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick143
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at the 143rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick180
Rnd6
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at pick 180 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick215
Rnd6
Caleb Ransaw
A clean, defensible pick in the 215th overall pick with a little surplus value in Caleb Ransaw. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick222
Rnd7
Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II at pick 222 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
