Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Emmanuel McNeil-Warren slide 25 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Heidenreich lower, and that gap is the story. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
They took Kayden McDonald at par in pick 21, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick53
Rnd2
CJ Allen
Steal is underselling it; CJ Allen at the 53rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at Round 3, Pick 12 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick85
Rnd3
Devin Moore
They paid sticker price for Devin Moore in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick99
Rnd3
Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at pick 99 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Nice patience on Jack Endries, who had no business lasting to slot 121. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick135
Rnd4
Isaiah World
No drama and no debate, Isaiah World went about where he belonged in the 135th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jalen Farmer in No. 161. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick214
Rnd6
Eli Heidenreich
A real head-scratcher, Eli Heidenreich in pick No. 214 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at the 216th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jimmy Rolder
They did well to land Jimmy Rolder in Round 7, Pick 8, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick237
Rnd7
Cole Payton
No edge and no loss on Cole Payton in slot 237; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
