Draft Profile: Bio
DJ Campbell from Bowie High School was rated a 5-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 5-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Campbell opted to join Texas.

In 2022 as a freshman Campbell saw action in 6 games and played a total of 101 snaps for the Longhorns. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing at right guard.

As a sophomore in 2023 he played in 13 games and a total of 795 snaps. He conceded 7 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and 6 sacks while playing at right guard.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Campbell has good size and power, firing off the line of scrimmage and capable of creating movement in the run game.
  • A smooth mover and covers a lot of ground, working hard to mirror rushers; agile and keeps his feet moving.
  • Effective grappling in the phone booth, with the upper-body strength and strong hands to outbattle defenders. He also shows a good understanding of angles when moving out to the second level
  • Outstanding in the screen game, both because of his instincts to deceive defenders and mobility to get out in front and land blocks.
  • Understands angles and plays with good leverage. Campbell has long arms and heavy hands, using them effectively in pass protection, and Campbell has a strong enough initial punch to get an edge on quick sets.
  • Has powerful limbs and can dominate in the phone booth, with a strong grip that allows him to out-grapple defenders.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Doesn’t display the agility and speed to effectively get around as a pulling guard. Campbell generally struggles in space, and Campbell will have a tough time consistently landing blocks on the second level
  • Needs to prove his worth in a straight-ahead running game.
  • Can struggle to stay engaged, especially on the second level. His hand placement can be sloppy, costing him power.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
