Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

The Texans' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.

Every board in the league had McLachlan lower, and that gap is the story. The Green pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 10. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick59 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Fair-plus on Braden Fiske, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick86 Rnd3 Renardo Green
Renardo Green slipping to the 86th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick123 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Johnny Wilson at pick 123 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at slot 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick188 Rnd6 Tanner McLachlan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tanner McLachlan this early at No. 188. The roster fit checks out.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
The board had cheaper options than Tyler Owens at the 247th overall pick, and it noticed. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
