Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Texans reached some 39 spots for Marist Liufau, and value like that does not grow back.

The Arnold value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Texans indulged a want in Sainristil while a need in edge rusher, offensive lineman and other spots stayed open. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Terrion Arnold
They barely believed it either: Terrion Arnold still on the board at the 42nd overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick59 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
Nice patience on Roman Wilson, who had no business lasting to slot 59. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick86 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A curious use of pick 86. Edge rusher, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Mike Sainristil did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
A straight-up fair deal on Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 123, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127 Rnd4 Marist Liufau
A big swing on Marist Liufau at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick188 Rnd6 Myles Murphy
They talked themselves into Myles Murphy at Round 6, Pick 13, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick247 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Trevin Wallace for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
