Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Texans: B-.

Some picks age like wine; Myles Cole at the 124th overall pick will need to, sitting 99 spots clear of his grade. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Sainristil pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots still on the board.

The Hall value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. More want than need.
Pick59 Rnd2 Mike Sainristil
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Mike Sainristil at cornerback with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick86 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at Round 3, Pick 23 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick124 Rnd4 Myles Cole
Value said wait; Myles Cole in the 124th overall pick says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ty'Ron Hopper
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ty'Ron Hopper this early at pick 128. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick236 Rnd7 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall at the 236th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick245 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 245th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick250 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
A swing that ignored the value entirely, De'Corian Clark well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
