Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Texans, and a B- to prove it.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Texans spent pick 127 on Jalyx Hunt, a name most had 24 spots down the list.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Mitchell at that price is a win they earned.

They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell is a better player than slot 42 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick59 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Edgerrin Cooper at the 59th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick86 Rnd3 Max Melton
They let Max Melton come to them and pounced at No. 86. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo in the 123rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jalyx Hunt
A real head-scratcher, Jalyx Hunt in Round 4, Pick 27 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick188 Rnd6 Logan Lee
Logan Lee in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
They paid a round early for Tyler Owens in pick No. 247, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
