Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Gordon II should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B-.

Call it larceny. Ollie Gordon II sat on the board until the 241st overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.

The Capehart pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tate Ratledge
In No. 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow in pick No. 57 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick89 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
You do not let a cornerback like Denzel Burke reach the 89th overall pick and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the 126th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick164 Rnd5 Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick241 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in slot 241, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
