Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Javon Baker had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

If Murphy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
Nate Wiggins in pick No. 42 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick59 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at the 59th pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at pick 86 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
They took Isaac Guerendo at par in pick No. 123, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick127 Rnd4 Javon Baker
The board fumbled Javon Baker all the way to Round 4, Pick 27, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick188 Rnd6 Myles Murphy
This one needs a full-page explanation: Myles Murphy in the Round 6 slot, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
The board had cheaper options than Tyler Owens at No. 247, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
