Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent the 250th pick on David Ugwoegbu, a name the board had a full 76 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

However the rest shakes out, Mitchell at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
Nothing to complain about; Quinyon Mitchell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick59 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Taking Adonai Mitchell in the 59th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Tyler Davis
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Davis. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick124 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Value with a capital V on Isaac Guerendo in pick No. 124, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ty'Ron Hopper
Value said wait; Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick236 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
They barely believed it either: Michael Barrett still on the board at No. 236. The roster fit checks out.
Pick245 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
Good price on Brevyn Spann-Ford in No. 245, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick250 Rnd7 David Ugwoegbu
They reached into another round for David Ugwoegbu, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
