Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Texans a B-.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Maason Smith; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 25 spots ahead at the Round 3 slot.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, Mitchell at that price is a win they earned.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell at Round 2, Pick 10 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
A slide stopped in the 59th overall pick, with Edgerrin Cooper worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick86 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Maason Smith in pick No. 86 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Josh Newton
By-the-book stuff, Josh Newton at No. 123 squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick127 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mohamed Kamara. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick188 Rnd6 Tanner McLachlan
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tanner McLachlan well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyler Owens a notch or two before his time. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
