Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Texans steal Skattebo and grade out a B-.

Somebody in the 235th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Cam Skattebo, the No. 178 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In slot 19 they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
They reached into another round for Donovan Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
You do not let a tight end like Colston Loveland reach the 84th overall pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick120 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at the 120th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick164 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
They left a pile of value on the table to take Xavier Nwankpa this early at pick 164. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick235 Rnd7 Cam Skattebo
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at Round 7, Pick 19. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
