Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-

Good, not great, for the Texans: B-.

The tape said wait; the Texans did not. Eyabi Okie-Anoma went at No. 247, a good 38 picks before the board was ready.

That Sainristil pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Spending an early pick on cornerback with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 23 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Payton Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick86 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick123 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in the 123rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127 Rnd4 Josh Newton
A curious use of pick No. 127. Offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Josh Newton did not.
Pick224 Rnd7 Myles Murphy
Myles Murphy at No. 224 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick238 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Frank Gore Jr. at the 238th overall pick is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick247 Rnd7 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eyabi Okie-Anoma well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
