Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Texans a B-.

The tape said wait; the Texans did not. Leonard Taylor III went at slot 85, a good 27 picks before the board was ready. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The Robinson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In the 23rd overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at No. 59 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick85 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
They talked themselves into Leonard Taylor III at slot 85, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick123 Rnd4 Malik Mustapha
A premium they did not need to pay, Malik Mustapha a notch or two before his time. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jaheim Bell
They paid up for Jaheim Bell at Round 4, Pick 27 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick164 Rnd5 Michael Barrett
Value said wait; Michael Barrett in pick 164 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick239 Rnd7 Taulia Tagovailoa
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Taulia Tagovailoa in No. 239. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick248 Rnd7 Tanner McLachlan
They reached a country mile for Tanner McLachlan at slot 248, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
